Inclusive Prom Sparks Joy

The inclusive prom took place on Friday, May 10 here at Hillside High school. The prom was hosted by Hillside students for all of the Exceptional students of Durham.

Some students from our school Hillside went to join the celebration.They were standing in two lines extending from the entrance, and whenever the kids would enter the gym, they would hear everyone clap for them and scream and make noises.

The guests would get so happy and excited, and then they would go play with balloons, dance, listen to music. Everyone had a smile on their face.

There was one boy who I knew from my time at Parkwood Elementary School and I was so glad to see him because he is doing great. He was just sitting down on the gym floor playing with balloons.

I was glad to see all the exceptional students of Durham there and seeing them excited and happy it was cute.

It was a great experience to go to a prom like that one. I was so happy to see the kids so happy and knowing they have our support and that they enjoyed their time at the prom.
