“Truth”-Harvard University. That motto is so important to private college Harvard University. Located in Boston,Massachusetts and founded in 1636. With an average SAT reading score of 710-800,SAT math score of 720-800, and ACT composite of 32-35. A graduation rate of 98% and acceptance rate of 6%! And yet we have a Hillside student that has the opportunity to go there.
David Madzivanyika: Young Scholar
Senior David Madzivanyika is an upcoming graduate of 2019 at Hillside High School in Durham,NC. He, like all Hornets, has an important future ahead of him. Madzavanyika was accepted to 26 colleges, more than 7 of which are private schools.
Madzivanyika’s interest is leaning towards Harvard University where some of our most notable citizens have been, such as former President Barack Obama. GPA requirements of an admitted freshman class is an 4.04 on a 4.0 grading scale. Madzivanyika, has already accelerated that with an average GPA of 4.52.
How does he do it? Having excellent grades and being a star athlete?
Young Football and Basketball Athlete
At a height of 6,3ft and 260lb, David is Hillside’s SDE on its football team.With two exceptional influences in his life a mother who’s a lawyer and father that’s an engineer from Sumbawa. He only started to play 5 years ago .David’s mom might not have agreed at the beginning.
David stated in one of his interviews, “I started playing and she kinda got used to it and thought I was good at it.” With his mother and father’s influence there’s no doubt Harvard will have a great leader and phenomenal student. David wants to share with fellow hornets a set of words to carry in the future, “Spread what you know even if everyone’s against you.”
