Funding for Disability Children

State Aid (PRC 32) - state funds (4,0931.14/kid) Per child allocation is for children with disabilities school-aged 5 through 21 counted on the April 1 child count. Funds are limited to 12.5% of the local education agency's average daily membership (ADM). The per child allocation will differ for those LEAs who are over the 12.5% cap.

Community Residential Center Program (PRC 63) - state funds ($14,940.00) Community residential funds are for students with disabilities served in a certified community residential center. (Application process)

The median annual Special Education Teacher salary is $52,715, as of September 27, 2017, with a range usually between $40,915-$64,515, however this can vary widely depending on a variety of factors.

There are four different levels of Mental Retardation and they are mild, moderate, profound and severe. Mild is the intellectual disability, from birth to age six, these children are able to develop social and communication skills, but their motor skills are sorta impaired. The moderate disability is an IQ score of (36-51 in general), trained therapists can make moderate disability more easier to live with. The severe level is when they are characterized by significantly impaired intellectually and adaptive functionally. Their IQ level is (20-25).

Meet Jonathan, he loves Hillside and his class. Red is his favorite color. He remembers everyone's birthdays. His is August 21st. He is a sweet kid and enjoys his classmates.

"Task Box" The task boxes involve activities for them to do in order to help develop their motor-skills. The task boxes also give them something to do in their free time while also helping them learn.

Daily Schedule

The A.U. kids have a set daily schedule everyday. Coach Howl says "the schedule is the same everyday so they get used to the same routine."
