Who is New in the Nest?

Have you seen the new tall guy walking around the school? Have you stopped to ask him what his story is? On September 13, 2016, I interviewed Mr. Lee-Worthy the current Assistant Principal Intern. This is his first year as staff at Hillside; but, this is not his first time in the school. Mr. Lee-Worthy was a student at Hillside High School. He says that he’s always admired the school, even when he was in elementary school.

For college, he attended University of Tennessee and got a Bachelors in Psychology. He is now getting a Masters Degree in Education Administration at North Carolina Central University (NCCU), right down the street from our school!

Mr. Lee-Worthy said that he chose to come to Hillside because it is deeply rooted in tradition. He says with this being his first year, the main thing he has to focus on is balance . He has to help teachers as well as deal with discipline with the students. In the end of the interview, he added that he loves Hillside and there is no other place he would rather be.

Mr. Lee-Worthy is not the first intern Hillside has had. A few others that we've had here are Mr. Harrison and Mr. Wall. Mr. Harrison got hired the year his internship ended when Mr Jowers left. He is a current Assistant Principal and Head Football Coach. He is also the adviser for Chi Omega Lambda Fraternity Inc. Mr. Wall was an intern at Hillside, but he is now an Assistant Principal at one of our rival schools, Jordan High School.

After speaking with Mr. Lee-Worthy, I feel that he intends to be at our school for the next part of his career. For me, I realized that being an intern at Hillside means being organized and patience.
